Ram Jhula:

Lakshman Jhula and Ram Jhula are beautiful places to visit in Rishikesh. These are the two main icons of Rishikesh. These are the suspension iron bridges made over the river Ganga and have their beauty. Lakshman Jhula is now not operational; it was ordered to shut down by the state government in 2019 because it got too old (96 Years) and unable to bear the traffic load. However, the Ram Jhula is still operational and has more traffic now. Ram Jhula is open only to pedestrians and two-wheelers. Four Wheelers are not allowed. 

What is Famous –

  • Ram Jhula is a suspension bridge so riding or walking over the bridge would be a thrill.
  • Go to the middle of Ram Jhula and witness the flowing of the huge Ganga river below. 

Neelkanth Temple :

If you are visiting Rishikesh for more than 1 day so you can plan to visit the Neelkanth temple. It is 32 KM from Rishikesh and will take easily 4 to 5 Hrs to and fro. This temple is dedicated to lord shiva and it is very much popular. Temple is attached to the freshwater spring as well, where devotees can take a bath.  

What is famous –

  • Its Religious Importance.
  • Driving and trekking.

Neer Gaddu Waterfall :

Stayed in Rishikesh for a short period, for one day or two days, and looked for a hangout place. Neer Gaddu Waterfall could serve you as the best option. It is almost 30 Mins ride from Lakshman Jhula. Follow the Rishikesh – Badrinath Highway for 3 Kilometers and take left from the highway and take the small road uphill to reach Neer Gaddu Fall.

  • Go to the top of the fall and witness the natural beauty. 
  • Enjoy the drive amid the beautiful nature around. 

Triveni Ghat :

Triveni Ghat is the best place to visit in Rishikesh. It is situated at the banks of the holy river Ganges. This sacred Ghat is used by most pilgrims. The main daily event of the attraction is the evening Aarti of the goddess Ganga also commonly called Maha Aarti. You will see a huge number of devotees offering prayers to the living goddess of India. If you ever visit Rishikesh, then it is a place not to be missed and could be one of the must-visit places to visit in Rishikesh.

  • Maha Ganga Aarti, full of energy and enthused will charge you up.

The Beatles Ashram :

The Beatles, as all know “One of the most popular bands”. They visited the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Ashram and were impressed with the practices of Transcendental Meditation. The time they stayed here was the most productive time for them. After the Beatles, it attracted western attention toward Indian spirituality and meditation. Later, this place is renamed Beatles Ashram. If you are searching for calmness so this place is for you. It is the nearest place to Rishikesh only 2 KM far from the Ram Jhula.

Parmarth Niketan Ashrams :

If you are in Rishikesh for even one day and planning for exploring some ashrams and temples, then Parmarth Niketan Ashram should be your top priority visit. This is located at the banks of the river Ganga and it is the largest ashram in Rishikesh. Offering pure divineness, they are organizing a bunch of daily activities that you can join. It is built on either side of Ram Jhula, just 500 Meters away.

Small Trek to Kunjapuri Temple :

If you are in Rishikesh and you can wake up early for one day at least, you should not miss this beautiful sunrise from Kunjapuri temple. The sky makes itself more beautiful when the sun starts rising behind the white-clad mountains. You will feel the ultimate divine vibes in the morning as this temple is dedicated to the goddess Durga. It could be the best short trekking option as well.

Kunjapuri temple is 25 KM from Rishikesh and after reaching there you have to climb 300 steps to reach this beautiful place. There are a lot of online trips and trekking organizers whom you can book this trek with or you can go by your vehicle.

 Trayambakeshwar Temple :

Trayambakeshwar temple is a beautiful 13-storied temple having its spiritual importance that you can worship many gods/goddesses in one place. It has 13 floors and each floor and each section has the idols of several Hindu gods and goddesses. This huge temple is built just near the famous Lakshman Jhula. If you are visiting Rishikesh for one or two days then you can plan to visit this temple in the evening of either day.

  • Spiritual Beliefs, Worships of several gods in one place.
  • Witness the beautiful sunset view from the top floor.

Riverside Camping near Shivpuri :

This would be great fun if you are visiting Rishikesh with groups of your friends so you should choose the camping option to stay for at least one day. It would give you a different experience. Better to find such a camp that is located nearby the river, so that you can enjoy the roaring sound and have a peaceful sleep. Besides many of these camps are offering a sand volleyball court so you can enjoy that as well. 

You will not get any non-vegetarian food and alcohol in Rishikesh city. Wine shops are far away.

  • Dehradun (Capital Of Uttarakhand State) – 47 KM.
  • Haridwar (Gateway to the Hindu pilgrimage sites) – 44 KM.0

Dehradun and Mussoorie, are on the same route, whereas, Haridwar is on a different route.
